I’m so happy for Scott and Lynzie. This move has been a journey, and seeing everything come together for them felt really special.
They loved their city home on Alexander Street in Grand Rapids. It had charm, character, and so many memories. They weren’t in a rush to leave it, but they also knew they were beginning to outgrow the space. They were open to something new, as long as it felt right.
We took our time and toured several homes in person — slow, steady, intentional. And then, sooner than any of us expected, the right home showed up. It checked all the boxes and felt like the next chapter.
The key part in all of this:
They did NOT want to end up owning two homes at the same time.
This is extremely common — and totally understandable.
So we built their move around a strategic contingent sale plan.
We negotiated a contingent offer on their next home, then focused on preparing and marketing their current home for the best possible sale.
Before listing, we did a staging walk-through. They already had great taste and took good care of their home, but we made small adjustments to help it photograph and show at its absolute best.
Once we listed, we went all-in on exposure:
We received an offer fairly quickly. However, the first buyers backed out after inspections. It happens. The most important thing in these moments is staying steady and not losing momentum.
We went right back on the market, and soon after, received another offer. In a funny twist, the same inspector ended up doing the inspection again for the new buyers — and this time, everything moved forward smoothly.
And the best part?
They sold their home and bought their next home seamlessly — without overlapping mortgages.
Exactly the outcome we were aiming for.
Now the fun part begins: settling in, making the new space feel like home, and watching their little guy explore his new room. Those are the moments that matter.
❤️ So happy for you three. Welcome home.
One of the most common questions I hear is:
“How do we buy our next home without owning two at once?”
I created a resource that breaks down the exact strategy we used here:
